Welcome Letter ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿพ

What's is this Caleb?

Hi my name is Caleb. This is my newsletter. ๐Ÿ—ž๏ธ

It's been a while since I released a new episode on People In Tech. Some of you reading this might be curious to know what's been going on.

Decided a newsletter was the next move.

I still plan on making more YouTube content but a newsletter let's me provide informative content fast ๐Ÿ’จ Like Vin. For Family

Goals for 2023

For the next year my goal is to put out 1-2 videos a month. That's actually manageable but I am also expecting my second kid. We'll see how it goes. You can subscribe to the channel below. Help me reach 10K subscribers ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ

What is the newsletter about?

It's an engineering leader cheat sheet. If you are any of the roles below, I'll cover topics from tech, tech, process and career development.

  • Engineering Managers ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿพโ€๐Ÿ’ป
  • Directors ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿพโ€๐Ÿ’ผ
  • VPs ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿพโ€๐Ÿ’ผ
  • CTOs ๐Ÿ•ด๏ธ
  • Engineering Leaders ๐Ÿ‘ท๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ
  • Software Architects ๐Ÿ—๏ธ
  • Parents in Tech ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ

If you want to know how to become an EM, Director, VP or how to run effective teams, help employees growth, or navigate office politics, this newsletter is for you.

Good news ๐Ÿฅณ There are 52 weeks in a year. I already have ๐Ÿ’ฏ+ post ready for you right now! Some need a bit more love. Expect a new post on a weekly basis.

The newsletter will be focused on things engineering leaders encounter on a daily basis. I've had the chance to speak with some successful leaders who have sold startups and been successful within IT. Check out my old podcast where I interview some of these folks.

Are you still doing the podcast?

My focus is on the newsletter for 2023. I'm leaning towards starting a new podcast that will allow me to interview experts outside of tech but still provide value to my supporters.

What's the price?

I pushing the level of transparency to 11. Even the best tech people in the world make mistakes, and I thought that it would be refreshing and insightful to be open and honest with subscribers about the lessons learned during my tech journey.

Coding was nice because computers did what I asked. People are not the same. This newsletter is filled with content that I've either experienced myself and documented or learn from mentors and other successful IT folks.

If you want to take the leap into engineering leadership and run your company this newsletter contains the cheat codes.

I wanted to ensure that my pricing reflected my own belief, and one I expected to be demanded of by subscribers, that this was a higher value offering.

This was the entire output of an experienced IT professional who would be working tirelessly with his sole focus on this research service.

I want to set the clear expectation that every single post sent to subscribers would be worth 3-7 minutes of their day.

Expense it

If you didn't know you can expense these types of newsletter at work because it's consider a learning/education resource. To make it easier for you, we created the template for you to copy here.

For Parents

One of the reason I called this newsletter Tech Dad because I am also a parent if you didn't get that by now. Some articles I write will discuss the balance of being there for your kids and progressing in your career. Maybe some of my tips and tricks will help navigate the stress to raising small humans.

Finals thoughts

Thanks for reading my first post. The newsletter is going to hit the ground running starting this Winter 2022. Excited for what 2023 has to bring. We already have 1K subscribers on LinkedIn within 2 months.

Thanks for supporting me and stay tune for more content. ๐Ÿš€
