What qualifications do engineering managers need?

Engineering managers typically need a strong background in engineering and often have a bachelor's or master's degree in a field such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science.

If you are only strong in soft skills, no one will trust your technical decisions. If you are only good with tech but suck with people, no one will want to follow your lead. Work at being good at both.

In addition to technical expertise, engineering managers also need strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
